Youth Team Take to the Global Stage & Ranks 10th in the World!
At the Sailing Champions League World Youth Finals in Kiel, Germany
10th in the World! 🌏 It was a fantastic result for all three Aussie teams finishing in the Top 10 of the SAILING Champions League Youth World Finals in Germany over 1-3 September 2023.
Our CYCSA Youth Team did a great job flying the flag for the CYCSA and representing Australia and we are very proud of their performance, both on and off the water. Final Results:
5th – Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron, 6th – Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club, 10th – Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia.
CYCSA Teams Excel at the Sailing Champions League: Asia Pacific Finals | May 2023
Four SA teams recently returned from the SAILING Champions League – Asia Pacific Finals at Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club – and came away with 2nd, 5th, 9th and 11th overall.
Fred Neill Match Racing Regatta | April 2023
It’s been more than a decade since match racing was on full display in South Australia but thanks to support from Harken Australia and the CYCSA the iconic Fred Neill event will return on 29-30 April 2023. The CYCSA is extremely proud to conduct the Fred Neill Regatta and Match Racing in South Australia, in honor of legendary South Australian yachtsman, Fred Neill.
HMAS Hobart Cup | March 2023
The Hobart Cup is held in memory of the HMAS Hobart (II) and the ASC was a proud sponsor of the event.
Nine races were conducted on Saturday 18 March 2023 for our Inaugural HMAS Hobart Cup in idyllic conditions with the wind 7–12 knots for most of the day. Courses were windward leewards. Teams racing rules were adjudicated on the water by on water umpires
The day was a major success emphasising again the capacity of the Elliotts to accommodate its first formal Teams Racing Event at the club and to facilitate a broad spectrum of sailing experience on the boats.
ADF & Veterans Regatta | May 2022
It was a fantastic day for our first ever ADF & Veterans Regatta held on Friday 13 May. A big thank you to the all the current ADF personal, Veterans and volunteers who contributed to making the day a success, in what will be the first event of many.
The CYCSA ADF & Veterans Regatta was proudly supported by the ADF Sports Council, Invictus Pathways Program, Saltwater Veterans.
Winter Development Squad
Get on board! Calling all budding young sailors… Join us for our CYCSA Winter Development Squad.
For sailors aged 13-23 years of age, our YSF Development Squad allows sailors to develop their keelboat sailing skills, gaining a better understanding of racing knowledge and tactics.

Sprint Series
YSF Episode 11 | Inaugural Members Sprint Series
The first ever CYCSA Elliott Sprint Series was held in late November with six crews heading out for some short course fleet racing action.
The laughs and smiles were there for everyone to see regardless of the six race series being reduced to three due to some strong winds.
Look out for opportunities to enter a four person crew into a Sprint Series in the near future!

It is a myth that “boys are more interested in sports than girls” – We know that girls are just as interested in sports as boys when they are young. A combination of the lack of opportunity, peer group support and encouragement causes them to drop out of sports at a rate that is two times greater than boys.
The benefits of athletic participation for boys and girls are the same. There are additional sociological and physiological benefits for girls who play compared to those who don’t.
The CYCSA Youth Sailing Foundation endorses gender equality in sports, we welcomed our first three female participants at our latest AS keelboat instructor course over the weekend.

A key part to the success of any foundation are the resources and vibrancy at the Helm! The CYCSA Youth Sailing Foundation Advisory Committee held their first meeting last week headed up by CYCSA Board Member, Doreen Perrin who welcomed committee members Robbie Deussen, Caroline Cowen, Nick Bice and Colin Gordon. Here’s a short insight into that meeting and this exciting initiative for the South Australian sailing community.
