Ocean Racing & Offshore Preparation

Why would anyone want to race a 5.8m yacht solo around the world?
Come along and hear from host Dan Turner who is planning on competing in the 2025 Mini Globe Race.
To find out more about the Mini Globe Race click on the map below.

A seasoned sailor, Dan has also completed the 2018 Melbourne to Osaka double handed yacht race – one of the only South-North long distance ocean races in the world, passing through multiple weather systems and seasons as it crosses the Pacific Ocean. The race participants sail from Melbourne to Osaka without stop-overs or outside assistance, traveling backward through the seasons with autumn in Melbourne, summer at the equator and spring in Osaka. This is Australia’s longest Category 1 yacht race, the equivalent of eight back-to-back Sydney to Hobart’s with only two people on board.

In the 2018 Melbourne to Osaka race, Dan and Tom Crabb finished 4th in AMS & Line Honours onboard Runaway!

Come along to the conversation from 7.30pm – no need to book / no charge.
