Solo Cruise in Company
Solo Cruise in Company 14-15 Oct – All welcome – solo sail or with crew – yachties, power boats and other SA yacht club members.
The CYCSA Cruising Association is offering an opportunity for short handed sailors to cruise in company and share a BBQ together (BYO) in the Port Vincent club house on Saturday night.
Promoting safety at sea this is not a race however an opportunity to put into practice those extra measures to increase your safety awareness when short handed sailing.
An important attribute for a solo sailor is independence. Whilst you will be supported in an attentive fleet, responsibility and liability remains with the Skipper
Timings
- To Port Vincent: departure 14 Oct 9.15am – we are aiming for an imaginary line south of the Outer Harbour Breakwater
- Returning North Haven: departure 15 Oct 9.15am – an imaginary line north of the Middle Spit Beacon approximately 2nm ENE of the Pt Vincent Marina entrance
- This is not a race however it’s a chance to cruise with the presence of other vessels – your safety is paramount
Cancellation
The event will be cancelled if the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) issue a strong wind warning forecast for either day on the BOM website at 5.20am CST 14 Oct. A cancellation notification will be posted on the CYCSA Cruising Facebook group around 7am Saturday 14 Oct
Berth Bookings
- No bookings are required. Rob has asked that vessels under 13.2m to consider row B or C. Larger vessels should consider row D or at the end of the T. Select a vacant berth of your choice
- Please fill in the required Marina form located at the Port Vincent Marina office upon arrival

Special Price
Port Vincent Marina fees have recently increased. As this is a CYCSA Cruising event, the old pricing applies to CYCSA Club members – Row B or C $40pn (reg $50), row D $55pn (reg $70)
Responsibility and Liability
Whilst you will be supported in an attentive fleet, responsibility and liability remains with the Skipper of their vessel.
Recommended minimum safety:
- Lifejackets
- Hand held radio on the Skipper
- PLB (encouraged)
- Jackstays and harness
- Log on/off with Coast Guard Adelaide on VHF Ch 80
- Maintain a watch on VHF Ch 16
- Minimum recommendation Australian Sailing (AS) special regulations Category 6 compliance – more info [here]
