South Australian Women’s Match Racing (SAWMR)

The Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia (CYCSA) is proud to be an inaugural recipient of Australian Sailing’s Sail Our Way grant, supporting safe, inclusive, and empowering opportunities for women and girls in sailing. Through this initiative, we’re offering Women’s Match Racing Training to help more women build skills, confidence, and take the helm with excitement.

Women’s Match Racing Training Program
Women, Step Up to the Helm and Take Command! Race. Lead. Win. Join the next wave of women skippers in racing. The CYCSA is running an exclusive Women’s Match Racing Training Program designed to help women develop tactical skills, confidence, and leadership to become great skippers. The season will culminate in the inaugural Women’s Match Racing Regatta on 18 April 2026.

About SAWMR 
The SAWMR Regatta is a one-day event enabling Women to compete in a Match
Racing environment. Up to six crews will participate. Each crew will be headed up by
the Skipper, who also takes the role of Gold Helm. The Skipper will nominate a Silver
and Bronze Helm from within their crew.

Each Gold Skipper will race 1 flight (see NOR 10.1) against each other Gold Skipper
for the Title of Regatta winner. Silver Helm Skippers will likely have the opportunity to
race 2-3 Flights. Bronze Skippers will race 1 flight only (no outright Regatta winner).

0830	Tea and Coffee available from the Bar area.
0850	Registration and weigh in. Welcome briefing in the patio area.
0915	Race briefing in the patio area.
0930	Duty crew and umpires depart to set course.
1053	Attention signal.
1100	First Gold Helm flight commences for 5 races.
1500	First Silver Helm flight commences for 2 races.
1630	Bronze Helm flight commences for 1 race.
1700	Last warning signal.
1800	Umpire & Duty Crew meeting.
1800	CYCSA Bistro open for meals and drinks.
1830	Presentation commences in the patio area.
