Club Announcement

After extensive consideration, Nick Bice, the Commodore of the Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia (CYCSA), has announced his resignation from the position, effective immediately. This decision stems from the substantial travel commitments of his new role. Nick, who has served in the position for nearly two years, is stepping down due to the demands of his full-time role as the Sales Director for Grand Prix Sales at Southern Spars, a globally renowned company specialising in high-performance yacht spars.

During his tenure, Nick played a pivotal role in leading the CYCSA through its 50th-anniversary celebrations in 2023, promoting the CYCSA as a leading club in the sailing community.

In his place, the current Vice Commodore, Mike Holmes, has agreed to formally take on the role of Club Commodore. Mike has already been ably representing the Club at many internal and external events while Nick has been overseas.

Additionally, Rear Commodore Di Schwerdt has agreed to assume the role of Vice Commodore. Di will continue to represent the Club at events, notably the upcoming SAWKR. Meanwhile, Rear Commodore Jeff Dinham will continue in his current role, adeptly representing and advocating for the Club.

These Flag Officer appointments will continue for the remainder of the 23/24 term ending at the Club’s AGM in September.

We extend our gratitude to Nick for his great service to the Club and offer warm congratulations to Mike and Di on their new appointments.
