Battle of the Clubs | Snooker

The CYCSA and the Naval Military and Air Force Club of SA (NMAFC) have had a close reciprocal membership relationship for some years, but earlier this year it was taken to a new level with the introduction of the ‘Battle of the Clubs’. The objective of the ‘Battle’ is to encourage members to find out more about their club’s reciprocal membership benefits, experience their alternate Club’s facilities and get to know each other.

Round One happened at a Twilight Yacht Race in February when representatives of the NMAFC joined the crews of two boats to compete against other CYCSA boats. After the race it was deemed that each Club would receive ten points towards the ‘Battle of the Clubs 2020’.

The next round of the ‘Battle’ will be the Combined Quiz Night to be held at the CYCSA on Friday 27th March (booked out & postponed, date TBC).

It’s now also been agreed that the next ‘sport’ will be Snooker and we’re now looking for interested CYCSA senior members to form our team. We need 8 members if possible. The NMAFC has a magnificent Snooker room with two tables and a dedicated group of members who compete regularly. They also have an annual competition with the Adelaide Club.

Prospective players are invited to attend the NMAFC on Friday night, 3rd April for complimentary nibbles, at where you will be met by the Billiards and Snooker Convenor, Mr Charles Drew, to show you around, have a game and learn about the tournament.

This is a great opportunity to take advantage of our reciprocal club arrangements, enjoy some snooker in a relaxed environment and get to know each other.
